Cary, NC -- The Green
Hope High School (GHHS) theater department will present a special four-performance
run of the timeless musical comedy "How to Succeed in Business
Without Really Trying." Performances are in the Green Hope High
School auditorium located at 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road in Cary. The
show is directed by Theater Arts Director Margaret Walpole.
Power, sex, ambition, greed... it's
just another day at the office.
From the authors of "Guys And Dolls," comes one of the most
delightfully irreverent musicals of all time. A satire of big business
and all it holds sacred, "How To Succeed In Business Without Really
Trying" follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a little
handbook called "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" to
climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered
executive, tackling such familiar but potent dangers as the aggressively
compliant "company man," the boss' whiny, nepotistic nephew, the office
party, backstabbing co-workers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true
love.
Guaranteed to appeal to anyone who has ever worked in an office, the
show boasts a show-stealing star role in its antihero, quirky, memorable
secondary characters, a catchy, witty score that's bright, brassy and
easy to learn and sing, and a wicked sense of humor that's as biting,
unforgiving and on-target today as ever. Add to that an optional reduced
orchestration and a scenic plot originally designed around simple, cartoonish
sets, and you may find yourself mounting "How To Succeed..."
without really trying!
The 37 students who make up the cast
plus the crew have put in hundreds of hours of rehearsal and preparation
time since being casted in January. Other students and parents have
built sets, designed costumes and props, and worked on lighting and
sound. The result is another amazing example of Green Hope's talent!!!.
Tickets can be purchased at the GHHS
front office during regular school hours or at the door prior to performances.
