On separate weekends in mid-November several of our students participated in the NC Honors Chorus and NC Honors Orchestra in Winston Salem, NC.
During the weekend of November 8-10, nine orchestra students participated in the NC Honors Orchestra: Stephan Chang, Jayon Felizarta, Tomer Goldhagen, Sharayu Gugnani, Raphael Lee, Polyna Uzun, Evan Villani, Kai-En Wang and Jack Zhang.
Four Green Hope choral students, Jeongbin Pak, Austin Harger, Gabriela Bustamante and Luna Hou, were among the 180 students who were selected for NC Honors Chorus via an audition process that began in September. They worked with other selected students from across the state and distinguished conductor Dr. Daniel Bara from the University of Georgia.
Both events were very successful for our students. Gabriela's score earned her 5th place among all sopranos in the state, while orchestra member Jayon earned Concertmaster, 1st chair in the state of NC! Additionally, this marked the second year that Austin and Luna have been selected to participate in NC Honors Chorus. Congratulations to all!
The Fall play CLUE wrapped up last Saturday evening at 7:00 pm with the final of three performances. Attendance was excellent and increased each evening as the buzz about the show spread throughout our school community.
The "Whodunnit" fundraiser added to the audience experience and in total 6, premium tickets to the Spring Musical The Wizard of Oz were awarded to three individual winners.
As is tradition at all theatre department productions at Green Hope, the seniors were honored at the end of the final performance on Saturday. Between the cast and crew, there were 32 seniors recognized. Thank you for all you have given to the Green Hope Theatre Company seniors!

The Fine Arts Boosters launch their major Fall membership drive today! If your student is currently taking a fine arts class, expect them to bring home a membership flyer and form early this week. The flyer provides all of the details about joining FAB and we hope you'll consider joining us in supporting the arts at Green Hope High School this year.
The arts in public schools has historically been underfunded, and is often one of the first areas that is reduced when teachers and administrators face pressure to increase performance in core classes. At Green Hope, we're very fortunate to have a thriving arts program, but it wouldn't be what it is without the support that our parents and community provide through the Fine Arts Boosters. FAB closes the gap between the fine arts funding provided by Wake County and the department's actual annual budget that tops $70,000.
The easiest way to support the fine arts at Green Hope is by joining FAB! We offer four annual membership levels ranging from a $20 individual membership to our highest membership level, FAB Patron, for $100. Each level comes with benefits, with our two highest levels enjoying our most popular benefit, early access to performance tickets.
If you have any questions about FAB Membership, please contact Membership Chair, Danielle Brezina,
We are proud to welcome our new Choral Director Allen Botwick! He is excited to join our FAB family and is looking forward to the new school year!
Dear Green Hope High School Choir Family,
I hope you are all as excited for the 2019-2020 school year as I am! This is going to be an exciting time for our program to grow, try new things, and make beautiful music together. I believe that music works intentionally in our lives to bring people together and form bonds that are inseparable. We can look forward to creating a classroom environment where every student feels cared for and safe expressing themselves as individuals. As an alumnus of the great University of North Carolina, we sing "Hark the Sound of Tar Heel voices"; however, I can not wait to hear the sound of Green Hope voices! I hope you all have an exciting and restful remainder of your summer. You are loved and go Falcons!
