| ABOUT ORCHESTRA Instructor: Mr. David Wilson
Cheryl Schlitter has put together a website for this year's Orchestra and Chamber Group -- for all the current Orchestra info, click here to link to http://www.orchestra.greenhopefinearts.org/index.html! Congratulations to the following students who auditioned and were selected for the NC Eastern Regional All-State Honors Orchestra at auditions held on January 12th in Fuquay Varina, NC: Violin - Akshay Nadkarni, Megan Jang, Bobby Lam; Viola - Erik Griffis; Cello - Cheryl Schlitter, Grace Hartman; flute - Deanna Wung, Jenny Xue; trombone - Cathy Schule. The Clinic was held February 23-24 in Fayetteville, NC. The GHHS Orchestra scored superior ratings from all judges at the NCMEA State Orchestra Festival in Fayetteville, NC on April 9th. This extends the Orchestra's record to 7 years of superior ratings at this festival. Orchestra students attended the Heritage Music Festival in Washington, DC on April 25th. They received a superior rating from all judges, first place in their division, and an award for the highest score of any group at the Festival. As a result of their achievement, they have been invited to perform at the National Invitational Orchestra Festival next year. Robert Lam (violin), Cheryl Schlitter (cello) and Grace Hartman (cello) were selected to the NC All-State Honors Orchestra. They will perform along with other top high school symphonic musicians at the NCMEA Conference in Fall 2008. Mr. Wilson's Orchestra Awards for this year: Musicianship -- Cheryl Schlitter, Megan Jang; Leadership -- Akshay Nadkarni, Kevin Schlitter; Service -- Jordan Baker, Hannah Harmon; Work Ethic -- Ian Russell, Denali Hyatt, Chris Rinehart; Outstanding Freshman -- Grace Hartman; Achievement -- Bobby Lam. And our Seniors -- Jordan Baker, Danielle Fried, Erik Griffis, Destiny Murganti, Olivia Murphy, Akshay Nadkarni, Kevin Schlitter, Colleen Sheridan, and Ricardo Valdes.
