Families, Friends, and Community,
We regret to inform you that we need to cancel our performances for Saturday, March 14.
We are working with Concord Theatricals on producing a video of tonight's performance that can be distributed on a private server for Saturday ticket goers. Tonight is our final performance of the Wizard of Oz and tickets are still available at the door for tonight. Please consider making your Saturday ticket purchase price a donation to support our arts programs here at Green Hope. Refunds can be requested through 11:59 pm on Tuesday, March 17th.
Green Hope Fine Arts Department
We are very excited to present our 2020 spring musical, The Wizard of Oz, for you this weekend!
Families, based on guidance from state health officials, events that attract crowds should be avoided by those aged 65 and older, people with underlying medical conditions and those who are ill.
In addition, we have included the following steps to maximize safety:
For the second year, the GHHS Fine Arts Boosters are raffling off several themed baskets in conjunction with the Spring Musical The Wizard of Oz!
Raffle tickets can be purchased online now through Thursday, March 12th at noon. The tickets are $1 each, or 6 for $5, or 25 for $20. The baskets will be on display in the commons during the Thursday and Friday evening performances of the Wizard of Oz and you'll be able to buy tickets in person before the show and during intermission. Fan favorites "Out-to-Lunch", "Chocolate Lover's" and "Mixed Greens" are back again this year. The winners will be announced in the auditorium immediately following the Friday evening show, and you do not need to be present to win. Good luck!
This year, the Drama Department presents the spring musical The Wizard of Oz! As always, the production is a collaborative effort between all of our fine arts departments: Drama, Chorus, Orchestra and Visual Arts. Tickets for all four performances go on sale online this Friday, February 14th. See the TICKETS link in the top menu of the website for the link.
On separate weekends in mid-November several of our students participated in the NC Honors Chorus and NC Honors Orchestra in Winston Salem, NC.
During the weekend of November 8-10, nine orchestra students participated in the NC Honors Orchestra: Stephan Chang, Jayon Felizarta, Tomer Goldhagen, Sharayu Gugnani, Raphael Lee, Polyna Uzun, Evan Villani, Kai-En Wang and Jack Zhang.
Four Green Hope choral students, Jeongbin Pak, Austin Harger, Gabriela Bustamante and Luna Hou, were among the 180 students who were selected for NC Honors Chorus via an audition process that began in September. They worked with other selected students from across the state and distinguished conductor Dr. Daniel Bara from the University of Georgia.
Both events were very successful for our students. Gabriela's score earned her 5th place among all sopranos in the state, while orchestra member Jayon earned Concertmaster, 1st chair in the state of NC! Additionally, this marked the second year that Austin and Luna have been selected to participate in NC Honors Chorus. Congratulations to all!
The Fall play CLUE wrapped up last Saturday evening at 7:00 pm with the final of three performances. Attendance was excellent and increased each evening as the buzz about the show spread throughout our school community.
The "Whodunnit" fundraiser added to the audience experience and in total 6, premium tickets to the Spring Musical The Wizard of Oz were awarded to three individual winners.
As is tradition at all theatre department productions at Green Hope, the seniors were honored at the end of the final performance on Saturday. Between the cast and crew, there were 32 seniors recognized. Thank you for all you have given to the Green Hope Theatre Company seniors!
Performance Etiquette Reminders
For all Fine Arts Performances, please be in your seat 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the performance. And if you arrive late, please wait to enter the auditorium until there is a break, such as between pieces of music. Thank you!
